Grucci Fireworks Factory - Grucci has been looking to sub-divide property and build a concrete-crushing facility.
Proposed Lake Grove School - A special education boarding school current near Smithhaven Mall wishes to relocate to Yaphank. School would house approximately 135 children/teenagers. Lake Grove School found guilty of NY Medicaid fraud to tune of $850,000
Suffolk Trap and Skeet - Shooting range re-opened after several years much to the chagrin of local residents. Previously closed due to improper disposal of debris from shooting. Under new ownership but noise levels exceed Brookhaven Town Code and is unbearable for local residents.
Enchanted Forest - High-density housing development - Builder wishes to build clustered housing far exceeding current A-1 residential zoning (ie current zoning is one house per acre)
Invasive Plant Cabomba in Lake - Non-native, invasive plant in Upper and Lower Lakes (currently) is choking out other plants and wild-life. State, County, and Town have not done anything yet about it even though the State has provided monies for project. Town owns Lakes. DEC regulates what can be done.
Avalon Bay - Large Amount of Rental Units - Located on north-side of Mill Road, some retal unit buildings would be three stories tall.
Town Land Fill Expansion - also know as Cell 6. Cell 5 has been closed which is just east of Cell 6. Currently, there is ground contamination and there is potential for further problems
Yaphank County Center (Levy World) - County wishes to develop 250 acres of County-owned land and build a 8000-seat stadium, 2000 units of affordable housing, and possibly relocate multiple County facilities.
