Cabomba erraticated from the Peconic River Sportsmans Club's Donohue Pond

09/10/2007 - 9:50am

The Peconic River Sportsmans Club's Donohue Pond has been treated with a herbicide all summer. Their problems have been much the same as ours.  Cabomba and Milfoil have choked out this portion of the Peconic river for years. I had the opportunity to see the results of the treatment on Wednesday the 5th of Sept. I can tell you first hand that the results are terrific. Almost all of the invasive plants are dead or dying, while the native lily pads are flourishing. They say that fishing has never been better, and the renewed interest in fishing and boating is phenomenal. People are buying boats and fishing licenses again, and just enjoying the water as they haven't in years.
Great news that puts a big smile on my face!   Chad
