The Victorian Tea on Saturday, April 22nd, it was a great success! The food was delicious and the tea was hot and soothing. Most important, our guests seemed to have a wonderful afternoon despite the cloudy day. Thank you to Kayann Donaldson for chairing such a successful event for us again and thank you to all who worked on this event. By the way, Kay’s mom, Kathleen Kramer, won the English teapot in our raffle! ... and she graciously donated it to the Society for it’s growing collection of teapots. Thank you.
Our next General Meeting is Thursday, May 18th, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. Our presenter will be ‘Balee’, a psychic, who will talk to us about the spirit world and will walk the Hawkins House that evening. It is sure to be an exciting evening and we are all looking forward to what, and who, will be there!!
Work on the Octagon House and Carman’s River Nature Trail will begin soon, as will the clean up of grounds around the Booth House, the BuckinghamCemetery, and the Hawkins House. The carriage house debris will be removed. This work will be the coordinated efforts of Historic Services, the Parks Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Society. This collaboration has been initiated by the offices of Legislator Kate Browning and Sheriff DeMarco and we look forward to a successful outcome for everyone involved.
Our June 15th General Meeting will have the Town of Brookhaven Historian, Barbara Russell, as speaker. She will discuss the Historian’s role in preserving Town history and the activities of her office. It should be an interesting evening ... please join us.
And remember - tours begin Sunday, July 2nd!
